It's been awhile...Things have been a tad busy. But let me update. Things have been quite interesting around South Bend....President Obama was in town to speak at Notre Dame's commencement yesterday. The whole controversy surrounding that was that he supports abortion and Notre Dame is a Catholic university - which typically does NOT support abortion. There have been all sorts of protesters - on both sides of the fence. Obviously you know where I fall. :-) Most intriguing to me; however, was the woman that was arrested on campus for protesting against his presence here....Norma McCorvey. That name didn't sound at all familiar to me when I read the news story this morning. But I did a little digging. You may recognize her as Jane Roe...most famously known as the Roe in Roe v. Wade. Yeah, from that case. She was THE primary person in the pivotal case that paved the way for abortions to be legalized for all women across the country. Interestingly enough, she herself has NEVER had an abortion. The premise of her case was that she was raped - and that's why she needed an abortion. Never happened - and she later admitted that. The Lord touched her heart down the road and she has since come to Him. He has done a miraculous work in her life and she fights now to reverse the decision to make abortions legal. She gave birth to the little girl she was pregnant with during the trial. She put her up for adoption. Come to find out, she gave birth to three children total over her life. And she realized that a fetus IS a child...it is a baby...at all points from conception on. When did she realize this? Working at an abortion clinic...while Operation Rescue worked right next door. O.R. reached her. Ironically enough, the woman that at the same time in Georgia was accomplishing the same monumental decision, Sandra Bensing, is also now pro-life. Her case, Doe v. Bolton, occurred on the VERY same day! She also never had an abortion. Both women...who represented "a woman's right to choose..." never used that right and feel that the right to choose doesn't outweigh the right for that little baby to live. Their stories are incredible. Should you have the opportunity...You should check these out:
